FAQs

  1. What is OLAPLEX and how does it work?

All hair types (natural, curly, fine, straight, etc.) derive most of their integrity from healthy, properly paired, disulfide bonds. Bonds break when exposed to chemicals, thermal, mechanical and environmental forces, resulting in single sulfur hydrogen bonds.

OLAPLEX works by finding single sulfur hydrogen bonds and cross linking them back together to form disulfide bonds before, during and after services.

In the case of chemical services, OLAPLEX works by pairing with the single sulfur hydrogen bond faster than the three oxygen molecules can.

  2. Can anyone buy Olaplex?

Olaplex No.1 and No.2 are meant to be used in conjunction with chemical services that require a license to perform. This is why our salon system is only available to certified salon professionals.

The No.3 Hair Perfector Treatment, No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo, No. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner, No. 6 Bond Smoother are the take-home elements and No.7 Bonding Oil are designed for at-home use.

You will achieve the best results from using the entire Olaplex system (No. 1 and No. 2 in salon, and No. 3 - 7 at home). However, if this is not possible, your hair will definitely still benefit from the No’s 3, 4, 5 6 and/or 7.
  3. WHO IS OLAPLEX FOR?

OLAPLEX is beneficial for all hair types. Whether your hair is colour treated, texture treated, virgin or anything in between, OLAPLEX helps in both preventing damage and repairing it.

Everyone wants healthy, manageable shiny hair and with OLAPLEX, that can be achieved!

  4. Can I use the at home products if i have not had the salon treatment yet?
Yes, you can use OLAPLEX No.3 through to No.7 even if you have not tried the salon treatment yet. This is because the entire OLAPLEX line shares the same active ingredient to repair broken bonds in the hair. If you are unable to visit a salon OLAPLEX No.3 acts as a mini treatment.
